Under the Skin: Writing Our Truths into Fiction
A writing workshop led by Amber Keyser
Saturday May 6th at 1 pm
We're wrapping up Children's Book Week with a writing workshop led by one of our favorite local authors! In this free, hands-on writing workshop, young adult author Amber J. Keyser will introduce her “movie camera” technique for creating vivid and emotionally intense characters on the page. This workshop is open to all ages.
Amber J. Keyser is the author of Pointe, Claw, an explosive story about two girls claiming the territory of their own bodies, and The Way Back From Broken, a heart-wrenching novel of loss and survival, which is a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. She is the co-author with Kiersi Burkhart of the middle grade series Quartz Creek Ranch. Her nonfiction title, The V-Word, is an anthology of personal essays by women about first-time sexual experiences, which was featured on the New York Public Library Best Books for Teens, Chicago Public Library Best Nonfiction for Teens, The Rainbow List, and The Amelia Bloomer List.
